Material: Gilt
Period: Regency Antiques
This fine Regency overmantel is a very rare design with most unusual and attractive hand painted detail to the original gilding. The triple plate mirror is of breakfront form with bold surmounted cornice above a central tablet decorated with urns, flanked by ribbons, leaves and grapes. The two hand painted panels to the right and left have a beautiful dark madder red shade to them. The three plain mirror plates have reeded ebonised slips flanked by column supports decorated with grapevines on block supports and neat black ceramic feet. This has its original water gilded finish in good original order. The mirror glass is the original mercury plates which are nicely aged and in good useable condition.
A real looker !
This is substantial in size measuring 95cm high by 139cm wide and would create quite a statement upon a wide mantel shelf.
