Large late 19th.c. Aesthetic Movement overmantle mirror c.1880. Original 43″ x 53″ mirror plate with in a ebonised or ‘Japanned’ wooden frame with delicate carved detail highlighted in gold. Further decorated with lovely hand painted panels featuring a songbird, fruit and morning glory flowers all against a gilded ground (rubbed through in places). A few minor spots of tarnish to the mirror (most obviously in the top right hand corner) and some old wear to the frame which has been retouched in places. Generally very good condition with the original backboards. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
