Period: Early 19th Century Antiques
This is a really outstanding Regency period mirror of a grade scale in splendid original condition dating from around 1820. The mirror has a carved Giltwood frame with its original water gilding and a ball decorated cornice above a triptych Verre Eglomise glass frieze, hand painted in reverse with eagle, swags and trophies. The mirror plate is the original mercury plate with some historic ageing to the glass. The break front frieze is flanked by elegant acanthus detailed Corinthian columns.
This is a most imposing and tasteful piece of grand scale measuring 159 cms wide by 124 cms high.
