Circa 1900, very stylish carved mahogany Chippendale style cheval mirror. The wonderful carved top has shell and unusual foliate carving. Inside this unusual shaped and beaded frame there is the original hand bevel edged mirror. The mirror is held in place by 2 massive uprights, which are polished on the front and back and finish with a slight swept top and foliate carving, and 2 pins with stylish brass knobs. Below the mirror is a wonderful stepped cross stretcher to give stability. From this there are 4 elegant well carved sabre cabriole legs with relief carving on the top and finishing on a stylised realistic hairy paw foot. The mirror is very clean and stylish.
