Material: Gilt
Period: William IV Antiques
This large French mirror is a most unusual and very beautiful piece with a gorgeous colour to the rubbed back gilding.
The mirror frame has its original water gilded finish with a fine central crest and scrolling leaf moulded detail and is beautifully rubbed showing warm red oxide glowing through the gilt. The frame is a rare and unusual design with an almost square shape and curved corners all round the piece. The original mercury plate has aged most attractively and has a lovely deep hue, yet amazingly has no marks or tarnishing.
Altogether this makes a very nice original example with great charm.
This is an early mirror from around 1840 and is a good size measuring 103 cms wide by 137 cms high. (to top of crest).
UK delivery can be arranged with our local courier and costs 70 plus vat to most areas.
