A rare opportunity to aquire a Regency gilt mirror that has not undergone any remedial work of any description, in its near 200 year history. The mirror was originally oil gilt, most of which is still in good order, while the carved shell decorative frieze was painted a contrasting colour, much of which has flaked away, but which has left an attractive textured surface. The mirror glass itself is original and has a certain degree of deterioration, again this seems to add to it’s attraction. The turned and banded columns are very Regency, as are the gilded ball decorations on the overhanging cornice, and the carved rosettes. This is a mirror for those that like their antiques antique.
