A fabulous quality 19th century William Kent design walnut and gilt framed pier or console mirror. This is exceptional quality with the gilding being water gilding in 24ct gold leaf onto solid carved wood, rather than the inferior models which are parcel gilt onto plaster/composition. The top having a swan neck pediment with egg and dart detailing and two trailing oak leaf carved side details interspersed with acorns. The top and base having solid carved acanthus leaf detailing. This is a much deeper model than other inferior comparable models. The glass plate is original with some small areas of foxing but is not detrimental to the piece. The English walnut a rich mellow colour. Excellent condition. Measures 57″h x 30″w ( plate 30″h x 21″w)Viewing by appointment only.
