Late 19th.c. French trumeau overmantle mirror or pier glass c.1880. Two rectangular mirror plates at the base over which is a superb canvas panel painted in oils with a scene from the book of Isaiah. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar. With a touch of the coal to his lips the quaking Isaiah is purged of sin whilst God looks on from his seat in the clouds. In a slim gilt arched top frame with moulded detail. Original condition with obvious tarnish to the mirror and damage to the surface of the painting which is cracked and flaking in places.
